i haven’t counted all the bruises on my body yet

little rest by the river on my bikeride back from work... crazy hot here.. about 40 C/104 F

little rest by the river on my bikeride back from work… crazy hot here.. about 40 C/104 F

.

inside the jet stream channel, the world blurs
into a rainbow —
a heavy pregnant ball, sunDrops,
mixing with gushes of water/sunscreen–half-blind
i gasp

——–“whew– i can’t see anything”

&clinging to my husband’s back
i let it carry me

“now//waterslide– who’s first?”
i run up the stairs//juMp/skid
&sort the upper part of my bikini before re-emerging on the surface
after crashing full speed in the waves
“it’s not made for that”

we drift alongside a hot evening /
a big blue ball, crazily dancing

earlier i cycled //backpack/ed with a weight
of jungfrau, joch & titlis on my roadbike
chased by hot sahara winds
that travel giant coriolis loops
all the way up from algeria
onto my bike path home from work

liCking with
voracious tongue the sweat from legs, arms, neck,
a pack of wolves,
greEdy// furLess

“jet stream channel once again?” i shout against a choir of thousand voices
“gosh– you wear me out”

but then–

i’m a mermaid
with green fishscale gllstening tail,
fickle bikini top, short hair
&black mascara trails dripping from my lashes (i will see that only later in the mirror)
in my righteous element

“i haven’t even started yet” i smile

&with a dangerous glimmer in my eyes
i pull him down

——into my kingdom

  1. Action woman! Well done you! I’ve just been lying around on deckchairs in the garden in the shade or dipping my feet in the paddling pool – then again, I’ve been suffering from migraine in this heat…

  2. Summer is here … in AB as well … loving every minute of it, C … will be all over for us by the end of August, when the night frosts start … I wanna hold on so bad … like to a lover that has to go far away soon … happy summer to you … smiles … always, cat. PS: I love your selfie … smiles …

  3. Seems like the heat is on everywhere these days in the northern hemisphere…seems particularly hot after cruising in Alaskan waters…you made us all feel the heat.

  4. Love your picture Claudia. You’re so cute! I love your energy and playfulness. Wish I had more of that. I imagine it’s hard for hubby and friends to keep up with you. But just keep on playing.

  5. Hey there. So wonderful to see your face again.
That is def the problem with bikinis, whichis why I swore them off
long ago. Ha. The water park would be so much fun,
and a nice break from the heat. Its been a bit cooler here
this week. A nice relief, but then again, I have been stuck
    ina classroom – so.

  6. Whew, a waterpark would be a nice place to cool off with the temperatures THAT warm. 104 F would be way too warm for me. We have had such a coolish summer so far…I am waiting for a bit of a warm-up so grandchildren can go swimming. The gulf stream seems quite fickle indeed.

  7. Great rendering of the heat wave, Claudia, and the energy you manage to have. I am so glad the heat is on your side of the ocean. I remember the heat wave a few years ago. It made me feel like a clammy slug most of the time. I admire that you were able to cycle.

  8. Love this section, girl:

Plus the mermaid with the fickle bikini. Nice.🙂

And the ending … pulling him down into your kingdom. Super hot. Lucky guy!
